Affordable Hotels with The Best Views of NYC

King Suite at the Arlo Nomad in Manhattan, NY

New York City is famous for its breathtaking skyline. As someone who has lived here my entire life, I’m still blown away every time I’m able to see the beautiful skyscraper lights shining through the midnight sky. The downside, however, is that getting a good view of the city can be somewhat pricey. If you don’t know someone who lives in a tall luxury building, or you don’t want to pay for a skyscraper observatory experience (hyperlink), finding gorgeous views can be difficult. For those who are visiting, or want to experience an NYC Staycation, here are some of the best hotels that have pretty cool views of the city.

*** Note: I suggest calling hotels when booking to ensure you are getting a good city view. Sometimes there are certain “city view” rooms that have better views than others, so calling ahead to book can make sure you get what you pay for!

1. Arlo Nomad

Arlo Nomad is located right near the empire state building, making it an awesome location for tourists.

They offer two rooms, a King Sky and a Queens Sky that both have beautiful floor-to-ceiling windows and gorgeous city views. The King Sky starts at $269 per night and the Queen starts at $229. They are constantly running promotions so keep an eye on their website and Instagram for upcoming deals.

Downside: We were able to see into the windows of some of the other rooms, due to the floor-to-ceiling windows. With the lights off at night, and the blinds slightly closed during the day, we felt that it was no biggie, but important to note for others looking to stay here (also this is only an issue for some of the rooms).

Address: 11 East 31st Street New York, New York 10016, United States

2. Boro Hotel

Boro Hotel is located in Astoria Queens, right across the bridge from Manhattan. I’d recommend this more for someone who is from the city and wants a staycation over a tourist who’d likely want to be in the hustle and bustle of the city. The rooms with manhattan views start at $115 and rooms with manhattan views + a balcony start at $150— An incredible deal!

Downside: Views are from Queens since the property is not actually located in Manhattan.

Address: 38-28 27th St, Queens, NY 11101

3. citizenM New York Bowery Hotel

The citizenM New York Bowery Hotel is a great option for someone who wants city views in an awesome city location. This property is known for its sleek design, cleanliness, and highly attentive staff. Rooms with a city view start at about $170.

Downside: Rooms are very small!

4. Moxy

The Moxy Chelsea is a great hotel for couples and friend groups. Super lively and in a great location, this stylish property has a trendy rooftop bar (The Fleur Room) with incredible views of the NYC skyline, and an intimate Italian restaurant (Feroce Ristorante). Prices for skyline views start at around $270 per night. One of my absolute favorites!

Downside: Small Rooms and a little more pricey for the skyline views.

5. Hotel Indigo Lower East Side New York

Known for their rooftop bar, Mr. Purple, the Hotel Indigo Lower East Side is a charming boutique hotel “immersed in a culture of creativity and surrounded by vibrant street art.” Their 14th-floor lobby has incredible views of NYC, and the views continue in their deluxe suites. Rooms with city views start at $160 per night.

Downside: Certain rooms are super narrow and can receive noise from the rooftop bar at night.

Address171 Ludlow St, New York, NY 10002

6. Hotel 50 Bowery

Hotel 50 Bowery is a stylish boutique hotel located in Chinatown (steps away from Little Italy, Soho, and more). Their 1 King Bed with City View room starts at $144/night and has gorgeous views of lower manhattan. Other amenities include spa robes & slippers, a mini-bar, and a rainfall shower. The property also has a rooftop bar with gorgeous views of NYC— highly recommend going for sunset!

Downside: The rooms with the best views are very small, around 200 Sq ft.
